CNC Swiss Machining Services

At Gent Machine, we provide precision CNC Swiss machining of bar stock up to 1.375 in in diameter. Swiss machining has long been the ideal choice for precision machining of small diameter parts that require a high level of precision. In Swiss machining, the bar is supported by a guide bushing very close to the cutting tool, minimizing deflection and allowing us to hold tolerances as tight as ±0.0002 in for ultra-precision applications. Additionally, our Swiss machining centers have 7-axis cutting capabilities, meaning tools are capable of drilling, knurling, threading, and slotting parts within a single machining cycle.Previously, the primary drawback of Swiss machining was related to the set up times. Cam driven machines required a very labor intensive set up, relegating Swiss machining to only high volume production. However, with the advent of CNC Swiss machining centers, set-up times have been drastically reduced, opening up production to runs as small as 100 pieces in some cases. We work with a wide variety of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and steel alloys as well as many different engineered plastics. All lead times are quoted on a job by job basis, and expedited service is available as needed to accommodate rush orders.
